For 2022, the Levante comes in five trims GT, Modena, Modena S, Trofeo and Tributo. The Levante is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0 liter 6-cylinder making 345 horsepower in the GT form and 428 in the Modena and Tributo trims. The Levante Modena S and Trofeo come with a turbocharged 3.8L V8 that generates 580 horsepower. Masarati claims the Trofeo is one of the fastest SUVs in the world with a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. Power is sent to all four wheels through an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission.
The svelte styling pays off as well, with an extremely slippery, best in class coefficient of drag which contributes to both top speed and fuel economy. In addition, Maserati claims that their SUV has an ideal 50/50 weight distribution and the lowest center of gravity in its class, both immediately noticeable in the way the vehicle corners.
Standard features include an active air suspension capable of raising and lowering the vehicle to suit conditions, 20-inch alloy wheels, leather interior, an 8.4-inch touch screen with navigation, a rearview camera, plenty of connectivity options for iPhone or Android, bi-xenon headlights and heated front seats that are electronically adjustable.
The Modena S adds LED headlights, ambient lighting, 14-speakers, and adaptive cruise control. The Trofeo is the sportier version of the Levante with a sport tuned suspension, dark chrome accents, 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, power pedals, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a 17-speaker sound system.
Standard safety features across the lineup include a rear view camera, 6 airbags, front and rear parking sensors and a blind spot warning system. The Modena S, Trofeo and Tributo trims also add active lane departure, forward collision mitigation, rear collision warning, and a pedestrian detection system.
For 2022, the Levante the trim lineup gets reduced from eight trims to five with minor changes to features and options.
The Maserati Levante is a performance SUV that competes with the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport, and Jaguar F-Pace. While those competitors offer plenty of outright speed, the Levante offers similar speed, with a huge dose of style and exclusivity to go along with it. Sporting an engine that was developed and manufactured by Ferrari, the Levante has performance baked right into its DNA. At the same time, the Levante aims to inject a little soul into a segment that is largely obsessed with numbers.
